ONTARIO LACROSSE ASSOCIATION IN-SEASON PARTICIPATION RESTRICTIONS

TORONTO, ON – May 4th, 2023 – The Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) reaffirms its support for the position of Lacrosse Canada in regards to any organization that is not sanctioned by Lacrosse Canada or World Lacrosse.

LACROSSE CANADA OPERATIONS MANUAL, SECTION 5: PARTICIPANT ELIGIBILITY

Domestically and internationally, no registered Junior and under participant may play or participate in any non-approved competition, namely any competitions non-approved by World Lacrosse or any of its National Governing Bodies (NGB) including Lacrosse Canada (LC), and Provincial or Territorial Sport Organization (P/TSO) without first obtaining the permission of their LC Member Association. Any participation in non-sanctioned events will result in loss of eligibility for all National Championships and Team Canada events.

ONTARIO LACROSSE RULES & REGULATIONS, SECTION R 6.07

R6.07(a) Players who are registered, protected, or rostered with any team in the Corporation shall not play or sign with any other team in any other competing league without the written permission of the OLA VP of Junior to Major. The leagues of recognized academic institutions are exempt.

R6.07(b) Players who sign or play in another league or association without authorization shall be suspended for the balance of that season and for the entire season following, and are deemed to be not in good standing with the Corporation. Participation by any OLA-registered volunteers, coaches, officials, athletes and/or teams with nonsanctioned competition is a violation of the Terms and Conditions of OLA membership. Unsanctioned competition includes, but is not limited to, league play, exhibition play, camps, clinics, showcases, or other events that are not part of the Ontario Lacrosse program schedule. On registration, and as of this directive, OLA members are hereby notified and reminded of the enforcement of this policy.
