Toronto, ON – The Ontario Junior Lacrosse League (OJLL) is excited to announce a special regular season game scheduled on the Canada Day weekend in Ottawa. The matchup between the Toronto Beaches and Orangeville Northmen is set for Saturday, June 29th, at 7 PM at Howard Darwin Arena, home of the Nepean Knights Junior B team.

It will be the second meeting between the two teams this season, following their initial encounter on June 9th at Tony Rose Arena in Orangeville. Set to be a memorable occasion, the Ottawa game will serve as a homecoming for several players from both teams who grew up playing in eastern Ontario, providing a unique opportunity for these players to showcase their skills and compete in front of their hometown crowd.

“We are looking forward to celebrating Canada’s national summer sport in the nation’s capital this summer,” said OJLL Commissioner Mark Grimes. “I want to thank Matt Firth and the Nepean Knights for hosting the showcase game and underscoring their commitment to promoting and providing a platform for high-level lacrosse in the area. We look forward to offering a chance for fans in eastern Ontario to experience the OJLL in their own backyard.”

“The Nepean Knights are proud to host the OJLL in Ottawa,” added Matt Firth, Head Coach & General Manager of the Nepean Knights Junior B Lacrosse Club. “This will be a tremendous opportunity for the lacrosse community in eastern Ontario and the surrounding area to watch the highest level of junior box lacrosse in the world, showcasing two of the league’s top teams in the Toronto Beaches and Orangeville Northmen. It will also be a homecoming for those players from Nepean and our region who play in the OJLL, a great chance for them to play in front of family, friends and fans and further inspire young players from the area.”

Reid Acton, General Manager of the Toronto Beaches, commented: “The Toronto Beaches are thrilled to play the Orangeville Northmen in Ottawa this summer! The Nepean Knights have graciously welcomed this exciting clash, providing a platform for lacrosse enthusiasts in the region to witness the pinnacle of junior box lacrosse. We look forward to spending the weekend in the nation’s capital, and meeting some of our Nepean players' families and friends.”

Nick Rose, General Manager of the Orangeville Northmen, stated: “The Northmen are pleased to travel to the nation’s capital this summer for our game against the Toronto Beaches. The Capital region has quickly grown into a hotbed of lacrosse, consistently producing NLL talent year after year. We are eager to showcase our league in what promises to be a valuable team bonding weekend for our team heading towards the playoffs. Both teams have players from the region who commit to moving away from home each summer to play at the highest level, and we are glad that their friends and family will have the chance to watch them play in person closer to home. It will be a beneficial experience for all of our players. Our thanks go to the Nepean Knights for hosting us.”

Tickets will be available at the venue. We invite you to join us for a celebration of Canada's national summer sport on the Canada Day Weekend in the heart of the nation's capital. Stay tuned for broadcast details soon to come.
