ONTARIO — The Ontario Junior Lacrosse League (OJLL), the premier box lacrosse league in Ontario, has released the schedule for the upcoming 2022 regular season.
"We are thrilled to announce the 2022 schedule ahead of the first regular season for the OJLL in two years,” said OJLL Commissioner Mark Grimes. “We know that our players and fans have been looking forward to seeing their teams return to action at home—especially in a year where our teams will compete for a chance to win the Minto Cup on Ontario soil."
A total of 110 games will be played in the regular season to determine which teams qualify for the playoffs. Each team will play ten home and ten away contests during what will be the first normal season for the league since the Covid-19 pandemic. The league’s broadcast partner JVI Sports will broadcast two “Games of the Week” during the regular season—the full broadcast schedule will be announced soon.
Two games will highlight the return of the OJLL on May 11, leading off with the defending Minto Cup champion Orangeville Northmen hosting the Six Nations Arrows in their first home game at Tony Rose Arena in 1008 days. The same night will also see the 2021 Futures Division champion Peterborough Lakers begin their 2022 campaign on the road as they make a visit to the brand new Canada Games Arena to play the 2021 Ontario champion St. Catharines Athletics.
